Screening of new All Creatures Great and Small TV Series
We are both very excited about the new adaptation of All Creatures Great and Small. The production company, Playground, have kept us very much in the loop as the series developed, and we really like the finished article.
We would encourage viewers not to regard it as in competition with the original, but to see it for what it is – thoroughly enjoyable family entertainment, sitting comfortably and respectfully alongside the fantastic old series. It is different from the original, but very professionally done, with wonderful acting and lovely Dales scenery. We think it is a very worthy addition to the “Herriot portfolio”.
We hope it may rekindle a new interest in James Herriot. There is a younger generation who have never experienced the joy of reading the Herriot books; perhaps also, the uninitiated may come to beautiful North Yorkshire and indeed, learn more about our father, the Real James Herriot, in the World of James Herriot visitor attraction in Thirsk.
