Viewers were asked to name their favourite show either set or made in the county and the veterinary drama All Creatures Great and Small starring Christopher Timothy and Robert Hardy and filmed largely in the Yorkshire Dales was the runaway winner, taking 7.3 per cent of the overall vote.
Ian Ashton, managing director of the World of James Herriot and chairman of Herriot Country Tourism said: “This is an enormous accolade and shows the enduring quality of the stories written by Alf Wight (James Herriot) which resulted in the All Creatures Great and Small TV series. It continues to be remembered fondly and we are busier than we have ever been at the World of James Herriot as younger generations discover the stories through their parents and grandparents.
